Best known as Private Investigator Jim Rockford of the hit 70′s show “The Rockford Files”, James Garner (Born 1928 in Norman, OK) has starred in dozens of Hollywood Movies and Television series over his long career. He has been nominated for an Academy Award (for Murphy’s Romance) and has won 2 Emmy Awards. He has been nominated for another 10 Emmy awards over the years. In the 1960′s he starred in the television series “Maverick” and appeared in such films as “The Great Escape”, “Support your local Gunfighter”, “Support your local Sheriff”, before going back to Television for “The Rockford Files” in the early 1970′s. Recently, he co-starred on the ABC Sitcom “8 Simple Rules for dating my teenage daughter” where he appeared as Katey Sagal’s father after the death of series star John Ritter.

What a joy to watch. Garner played some great characters. Rockford Files alone should earn him a Hall of Fame membership. And Maverick was an all time classic as well. I pray he will not suffer too much with his recovery.

james garner was the epitome of cool with a dash of humility…moreover…it was easy to see that he was much like his favorite characters in his own life…maverick and the ‘files’ are watched once a day every day in my home…
