German-born actor Eric Braeden (Born 1941 in Bredenbek, Germany) is the star of the long-running soap opera “The Young and the Restless”. He has played the role of Victor Newman on the show for the past 29 years. He got his break with a starring role in the 1960′s series “The Rat Patrol” and later appeared on such shows as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, “Hawaii 5-O”, “Kojak”, and others. His film roles include “Escape from the Planet of the Apes” and “Titanic”. He has been nominated for nine daytime Emmy Awards with one win. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. In a shocking twist in late 2009, it appears that Eric is leaving “The Young and the Restless” after nearly a 30 year run due to a contract dispute with CBS. According to Eric, his last episode will run in November 2009 and as of right now, he does not foresee a return to Daytime Television in the future. He will be greatly missed on Daytime Television.
