
Alan Alda (Born 1936 in New York, NY) is a Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe Award and Emmy Award winning American actor. He is best known for his role as Capt. Hawkeye Pierce on the long-running hit show “M*A*S*H” from 1972-1983. He has enjoyed an extensive career in films including roles in movies such as “The Mephisto Waltz”, “Same time next year”, “Paper Lion”, “California Suite”, “The Four Seasons”, “Sweet Liberty”, “Betsy’s Wedding”, “And the Band played on”, “Murder at 1600″, “What Women want”, and his Oscar nominated role in “The Aviator”. His other television credits include recurring roles on “ER” and “The West Wing”. He has been nominated for an amazing 20 Emmy Awards with 5 wins. He has also been nominated for 14 Golden Globe Awards with 6 total victories over his career. Is the only person ever to win an Emmy Award for acting, writing, and directing. He has also been nominated for 3 Tony Awards over his career.
