
Edward Asner (Born 1929 in Kansas City, MO) is an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winning American Television and Film actor. His acting career, which started in 1957, includes parts in over 250 film and Television projects. He is best known for his role as Lou Grant and the popular series “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “Lou Grant”. The role earned him wins at both the Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Over his career, he has been nominated for 16 Emmy Awards with 7 wins and 11 Golden Globe Awards with 5 total wins. His 7 total Emmy Wins for acting are more than any other male actor in TV history. Other memorable roles include the TV miniseries “Roots”, and a long film career which has included films such as “El Dorado”, “Fort Apache The Bronx”, “JFK”, “Hard Rain”, “The Animal”, “Elf”, and the current animated hit “UP”, and many others.
