Bruce Dern (Born 1936 in Chicago, IL)is a Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominated American Actor. He first appeared in TV roles in 1960 and has appeared on shows such as “Route 66″, “Rawhide”, “77 Sunset Strip”, “The Big Valley”, “Gunsmoke”, “Bonanza”, “CSI:NY”, and most recently, “Big Love”. His extensive film career includes “Silent Running”, “Will Penny”, “Support your local Sheriff”, “The Laughing Policeman”, “The Great Gatsby”, “Family Plot”, “Black Sunday”, “Coming Home”, “The Driver”, “The Burbs”, “Down Periscope”, “Last Man Standing”, “Down in the Valley”, “The Astronaut Farner”, “Monster” and countless others. He is the father of actress Laura Dern. I had written him and requested a signed photo about 6 months ago. I always enclose an index card with my name and address with each request and this index card was what he returned to me. On one side of the card, across my name and address, he wrote “To Mark, All the Best, Bruce Dern” and on the back, he wrote the note pictured below.
