
Joan Rivers (Born 1933 in Brooklyn, NY) is an American Comedian, Actress, Writer, Talk show Host, Author, and Businesswoman. She got her start as a comedian in the 1950′s. She performed in comedy clubs during the early 1960′s and then began appearing as a frequent guest on “The Tonight Show”. In 1969 she briefly hosted her own daytime talk show and her first guest was “Tonight Show” host Johnny Carson. She went on to become a frequent guest of “The Tonight Show” during the 70′s and 80′s. Over the course of her career, she has authored 10 Books. She has appeared in many films including “Rabbit Test”, “The Muppets take Manhattan”, “Spaceballs”, “Look Who’s Talking”, “Serial Mom”, “Shrek 2″, and others. Her TV resume includes “The Electric Company”, “Another World”, “Nip/Tuck”, “Z-Rock”, and a recent stint on “The Celebrity Apprentice” which she won. She hosted her own late night TV Talk show, “Late night with Joan Rivers” in the mid 1980′s. She hosted her own daytime show “The Joan Rivers Show” from the late 1980′s through early 1990′s. The show earned her a daytime Emmy Award. She and her daughter Melissa were frequent Red Carpet Hosts for E! and The TV Guide Channel for coverage of the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. In 1994 she was nominated for a Best Actress Tony Award for her role in the Broadway Play “Sally Marr and her escorts”. She has a Star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame.
