
His Holiness The Dalai Lama, born Lhamo Thondup in 1935, is the spiritual leader of Tibet and the head of the Government in Exile of that Chinese occupied country. As Tibetans believe he is the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama, His Holiness is the 14th Dalai Lama in history. His a renowned speaker on the Tibetan Buddhist religion and is the spiritual leader of it’s many sects. A noted public speaker, he is the first Dalai Lama to travel to the West and is a noted campaigner for civil, spiritual, and humanitarian causes around the globe. He was presented a US Congressional Gold Medal in 2006 for his many humanitarian contributions. In 1989, he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. He was enthroned as Dalia Lama in 1950 at the age of 15. He currently lives in exile in Dharamshala, India.
