

William Atherton (Born 1947 in Orange, Ct) is a veteran American Character actor. In a Hollywood career which began in 1972, he has gone on to a very successful career of playing characters that you love to hate, usually villains or self-absorbed yuppies. His breakout role was in 1974′s “The Sugarland Express” in which he co-starred with Goldie Hawn. This film was also the first theatrical film to be directed by Steven Spielberg. His subsequent films have included such movies as “The Hindenburg”, “Looking for Mr. Goodbar”, “Ghostbusters”, “Real Genius”, “Die Hard”, “No Mercy”, “Die Hard 2″, “The Pelican Brief”, “BioDome”, “Executive Power”, and many others. His extensive Television resume includes appearances on shows such as “Numb3rs”,”Monk”, “Life”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Law and Order”, “Nash Bridges”, “Lost”, and many others.
