
Elizabeth McGovern (Born 1961 in Evanston, Illinios) is a Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominated Film, Television, and Stage Actress. In a career that started in 1979 at the age of 18, she has appeared in films such as “Ordinary People”, “Ragtime”, “Lovesick”, “Once upon a time in America”, “Racing with the Moon”, “Bedroom Window”, “Johnny Handsome”, “The Handmaids Tale”, “The Wings of the Dove”, and the John Hughes comedy “She’s having a Baby”, among many others. She earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1981 for her role in “Ragtime”. The role also earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination that same year. On Television, she has most recently appeared on “Law and Order:SVU” and has appeared in numerous made for Television movies here and in England, where she now lives. She has also continues to enjoy a successful career on the stage, having appeared in dozens of productions in both New York and London. She recently branched out into the area of Singing/Songwriting and since 2008 has been the lead singer of the English band “Sadie and the Hotheads”.
