My Cousin Whitney in Oregon, a frequent commenter on this blog, is married to a Portland Firefighter/Paramedic, Lt. Don Davis. Don is a 20yr public servant having served in Departments in Las Vegas, Salem Oregon, and Portland. In recent years he has spent his vacation time travelling, with other first responders,to remote parts of the globe, on a volunteer basis, to teach Emergency Services procedures in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Peru. To my amazement, Don has founded a non-profit charitable organization, “GLOBAL MISSION READINESS”, which seeks to advance this great effort.

I urge you to please check out their website for more information. We sometimes tend to take our Firefighters and Paramedics for granted and they fly under the radar…..until we need them the most in an emergency. Many Countries around the world do not have the luxury of having first responders with the training and equipment that our responders have here in the US.
Don and his fellow volunteer first responders are trying to change that.
Thank you and have a great day!
