Lee Grant (Born 1927 in New York, NY) is an Academy Award and Emmy Award winning American Film, Television, and Theater Actress and Director. She has been nominated for four Academy Awards for acting in her career, winning the Best Supporting Actress Award in 1976 for “Shampoo”. She has also been nominated for 7 Emmy Awards, with two career wins, and has also been nominated for 5 Golden Globe Awards. She started on Television in 1950 and has appeared on shows such as “Peyton Place”, “Ironside”, “Mission Impossible”, “Columbo”, “Empty Nest”, “The Big Valley”, “The Mod Squad”, and countless others. Her film roles include “Valley of the Dolls”, “Plaza Suite”, “The Landlord”, “Airport 77″, “Shampoo”, “Voyage of the Damned”, “Teachers”, “Defending your Life”, “Dr. T and the Women”, “Mulholland Drive”, and many others. She has directed 25 film projects, mainly made for Television films. Her 1986 Documentary Feature “Down and Out in America” won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. She is the mother of Actress Dinah Manoff. (Empty Nest, Soap) She was blacklisted in Hollywood for nearly 10 years during the 1950′s as a result of the McCarthy Anti-Communism hearings due to her refusal to testify against her then husband, Arnold Manoff. Ms. Grant was kind enough to sign my index card and return it to me with a total turnaround time of 4 weeks.
