Seth Green (Born 1974 in Philadelphia, PA) is a Emmy Award nominated Actor, Writer, Producer, and Director. He got his start in Hollywood in 1984 with a role in the film “The Hotel New Hampshire”. His many other films have included “Scooby-Doo”, “My Stepmother is an Alien”, “Big Business”, “Can’t buy me love”, “Enemy of the State”, “America’s Sweethearts”, “Rat Race”, “The Italian Job”, “Scooby-Doo 2″, “Without a Paddle”, “Sex Drive”, the “Austin Powers” trilogy of films and many others. His Television career includes regular roles on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Greg the Bunny”, “Robot Chicken”, and “Family Guy” along with appearances on dozens of shows such as “Evening Shade”, “The X-Files”, “Mad about You”, “The Drew Carey Show”, “Angel”, “That 70’s Show”, “MAD TV”, “Will and Grace”, “Entourage”, “My Name is Earl”, “Reno 911″, “Heroes”, “American Dad”, and many others. Angie Dickinson (Born 1931 in Kulm, ND) is a Golden Globe Award winning American Actress and is one the great sex symbols of the 1960’s and 70’s. Her Hollywood career began in 1954 and has included appearances on Television shows such as “Gunsmoke”, “Perry Mason”, “The Fugitive”, “Police Story”, “Ellen”, “Judging Amy”, “Pearl”, “Hollywood Wives”, and countless others in addition to a starring role in the 1974-78 series “Police Woman”. Her film resume includes “Rio Bravo”, “Pretty Maids all in a row”, “Dressed to Kill”, “Oceans 11″ (original), “Sam Whiskey”, “Big Bad Mama”, “Death Hunt”, “Even Cowgirls get the Blues”, “Duets”, “Pay it Forward”, and many others. She has been nominated for 5 career Golden Globe Awards with two wins, and also has been nominated for 3 Emmy Awards. She has a Star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. Billy Crystal (Born 1948 in Long Beach, NY) is a Emmy Award winning American Actor, Comedian, Writer, Producer, and Director, along with being a frequent host of the Academy Awards Presentation telecasts.
While already a successful stand-up comedian, his Television career started in 1975 and includes roles and appearances on shows such as “Soap”, “The Love Boat”, “Simon and Simon”, “All in the Family”, “Frasier”, “Friends”, and as a featured performer on “Saturday Night Live” in 1984 and 1985. His film career includes roles in “The Princess Bride”, “When Harry Met Sally”, “City Slickers”, “Forget Paris”, “City Slickers 2″, “My Giant”, “Analyze This”, “Throw Momma from the Train”, “America’s Sweethearts”, “Analyze That”, “Monsters Inc”, “Mr. Saturday Night”, “Fathers Day”, and many others. His Directing credits include “Forget Paris”, “Mr. Saturday Night”, and the made for HBO film 61*. To date, he has hosted the Academy Awards eight times in his career. A huge New York Yankees Baseball fan, he is part-owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has received 17 Emmy Award nominations with 5 wins, 3 Golden Globe Award nominations, and has a Star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. Lee Grant (Born 1927 in New York, NY) is an Academy Award and Emmy Award winning American Film, Television, and Theater Actress and Director. She has been nominated for four Academy Awards for acting in her career, winning the Best Supporting Actress Award in 1976 for “Shampoo”. She has also been nominated for 7 Emmy Awards, with two career wins, and has also been nominated for 5 Golden Globe Awards. She started on Television in 1950 and has appeared on shows such as “Peyton Place”, “Ironside”, “Mission Impossible”, “Columbo”, “Empty Nest”, “The Big Valley”, “The Mod Squad”, and countless others. Her film roles include “Valley of the Dolls”, “Plaza Suite”, “The Landlord”, “Airport 77″, “Shampoo”, “Voyage of the Damned”, “Teachers”, “Defending your Life”, “Dr. T and the Women”, “Mulholland Drive”, and many others. She has directed 25 film projects, mainly made for Television films. Her 1986 Documentary Feature “Down and Out in America” won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. She is the mother of Actress Dinah Manoff. (Empty Nest, Soap) She was blacklisted in Hollywood for nearly 10 years during the 1950’s as a result of the McCarthy Anti-Communism hearings due to her refusal to testify against her then husband, Arnold Manoff. Ms. Grant was kind enough to sign my index card and return it to me with a total turnaround time of 4 weeks.

He first rose to fame in the United States as a writer and actor on “Saturday Night Live” from 1989 to 1995. He went on to films after leaving “SNL” and has had a long string of successful movies including “Wayne’s World”, “So I Married an Axe Murderer”, “54″, “Wayne’s World 2″, “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”, “The Cat in the Hat”, “Austin Powers in the Spy who Shagged Me”, “The Love Guru”, “Austin Powers in GoldMember”, “Mystery, Alaska”, “Shrek”, “Shrek 2″, “Shrek the Third”, and the recent hit “Inglorious Basterds”. Her Awards include 5 Grammy Awards, 9 Academy of Country Music Awards, 4 Country Music Association Awards, and a Peoples Choice Award. She has recorded a total of 9 Studio Albums, Compilation Albums, and Christmas Albums with 3 of the albums going to #1 on the Billboard sales charts. To this point, she has sold over 40 Million records worldwide. She has been married to Country Music Superstar Tim McGraw since 1996 and they are the proud parents of 3 young daughters. Has also appeared on screen as an actress in the TV series “Touched by an Angel” and in the film “The Stepford Wives”.

My Cousin Whitney in Oregon, a frequent commenter on this blog, is married to a Portland Firefighter/Paramedic, Lt. Don Davis. Don is a 20yr public servant having served in Departments in Las Vegas, Salem Oregon, and Portland. In recent years he has spent his vacation time travelling, with other first responders,to remote parts of the globe, on a volunteer basis, to teach Emergency Services procedures in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Peru. To my amazement, Don has founded a non-profit charitable organization, “GLOBAL MISSION READINESS”, which seeks to advance this great effort.

He has been awarded Five Emmy Awards for Best Game Show Host and has a star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. He has appeared on a number of television shows, usually as himself, including “Cheers”, “The Golden Girls”, “The X-Files”, “Family Guy”, “The Simpsons” and others. Eli Wallach (Born 1915 in Brooklyn, NY) is one of the finest character actors in Hollywood History. In a Television and Film career that started in 1951, and which continues to this day at age 94, Eli Wallach has appeared in over 160 different productions. His films include “Baby Doll”, “The Magnificent Seven”, “Ghengis Khan”, “How to Steal a Million”, “Cinderella Liberty”, “The Deep”, “The Domino Principle”, “Winter Kills”, “The Hunter”, “Tough Guys”, “Nuts”, “The Two Jakes”, “How the West was won”, “Keeping the Faith”, “Mystic River”, “The Hoax”, “New York, I Love You”, and his best known film, the infamous “Spaghetti Western” in which he co-starred with Clint Eastwood, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. In addition to that film with Clint Eastwood, he also starred in a number of other Italian Language Spaghetti Westerns during the 1960’s. His extensive Television resume includes shows such as “Batman”, “Kojak”, “Highway to Heaven”, “LA Law”, “Law and Order”, “ER”, “Nurse Jackie” and dozens of others. In his career, he has been nominated for 4 Emmy Awards with one win, and has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award. In a interesting note of trivia, Mr. Wallach appeared in the last ever films of Hollywood Legends Steve McQueen, Clark Gable, and Marilyn Monroe. Graduated from the University of Texas and once appeared in a play with fellow student Walter Kronkite.

He is the star of the popular A&E Series “Criss Angel Mindfreak” and is also a headline performer at the LUXOR Hotel/Casino in “Criss Angel Believe” in Las Vegas. He has appeared as himself on a number of Television series including “Las Vegas”, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels”, “CSI:NY”, and many others. He is the only magician to win the coveted “MERLIN MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR” Award twice, in 2001 and 2004. Birth name is Christopher Sarantakos.

He has acted in a number of theatrical films including “It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Word”, “The Russians are coming the Russians are coming!”, “Oh God!”, “The End”, “The Jerk”, “Dead Men don’t wear plaid”, “Summer School”, “Oceans 11″, “Oceans 12″, and “Oceans 13″. I am an autograph collector, not an autographed photo collector. Don’t get me wrong, getting an autographed photo is always great and is much preferred over just getting a signature. However, in many cases, getting a signature on an index card can be just as rewarding for your collection.

The first consideration is space. What are you going to do with all your autographed photos when they start rolling in? Remember, most photos that you get through the mail will be 8×10’s. They take up a ton of space if you frame them and stick them on the wall, or they take up a complete page in any album that you may use to display your photos. Me, I have about 100 photos hanging on the wall in a single room and have about 140 others displayed in 2 Photo Albums. I have no more space on the wall. Period. Right now, if I get a signed picture from a “Biggie”, someone “Less Biggie” has to come down off the wall to make space.

Another consideration is cost. The accepted practice in the hobby used to get a signed photo is for you to send a pre-paid return envelope. Obviously, in order to get a picture, you need to send a pre-stamped MANILA envelope with enough postage attached to get the thing back to you there in Timbuktu or wherever you live. I get a manila envelope, address it to the celebrity, put 3-4 stamps on it, insert a manila envelope inside, made out to me, with another 3-4 stamps attached, and then mail them off. Doing the math, one picture request via the mail will run around $2.50-$3.30 or so for each request. It might not sound like much, but it adds up real fast!

If there is a celebrity that you would like a signature from, and it is a person that you do not absolutely have to have a photo of….consider sending them an index card to sign. You can get a standard envelope with one stamp, send a letter to the celeb, place a folded return envelope addressed to you with one stamp, and you can get a persons signature for all of 88 Cents total! Plus, you can place 3 index cards on each page of an album which will save you a ton of space. If you really want to show off the persons signature, you can always print out your own photo at home and then place the index card in the frame with the photo. The main thing is that you did get the persons autograph! Unlike a signed photo, you will not get PREPRINTED index cards back from the celebrity. I always write my name and address on the reverse side of the card before I send them off so that I know the card I get back is indeed authentic.

So, economy pinching your wallet? Your walls cluttered with photos? Your albums overflowing? Try mailing out some index cards. Good luck and Happy Hunting!

She continues to enjoy a very successfull career in Television and over her career has starred in the series “The Yellow Rose”, “Moonlighting”, “Cybill”, and “The L Word”. She has also made guest appearances on shows such as “Samantha Who?”, “Fantasy Island”, “Just Shoot Me!”, “Psych”, “Criminal Minds”, and “8 Simple Rules”. She also had the starring role in the made for TV Drama “Martha Inc: The Story of Martha Stewart”. She has been nominated for 4 Emmy Awards and 6 Golden Globe Awards. She has won 3 Golden Globe Awards, two for her role on “Moonlighting” and one for her role on “Cybill”.

In a Hollywood career that started in 1957, she has appeared on numerous TV shows including “Ozzie and Harriet”, “My Three Sons”, “The Outer limits”, “I-Spy”, “Star Trek”, “Hawaii Five-O”, “Mannix”, “Bonanza”, “Hotel”, “Providence”, and dozens of others. Her most famous film role was as Chief Nurse Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in the 1970 classic “M*A*S*H”. Other films in her career include “The Boston Strangler”, “Brewster McLoud”, “Last of the Red Hot Lovers”, “Slither”, “Welcome to LA”, “Foxes”, “Serial”, “Loving Couples”, “Back to School”, and many others. Her role in “M*A*S*H” earned her a Best Support Actress Academy Award nomination along with a Golden Globe Award nomination. She is also an accomplished singer and released her first album in 2005.

Actor Patrick Swayze passed away yesterday, September 14th, 2009 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. I never got a chance to get an autograph from him before he passed away so there is no autographed photo to display on this post but I did want to pay a small tribute to this talented actor. He was born in 1952 in Houston, Texas. His career was launched in 1979 with a small role in the film “Skatetown USA”. What put him on the map was a co-starring role in the 1983 film “The Outsiders”. This led to a string of hits including “Red Dawn”, “Youngblood”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Road House”, “Next of Kin”, “Ghost”, “Point Break”, “Too Wong Fu thanks for everything, Julie Newmar”, “Letters from a Killer”, “Donnie Darko”, and many others. On Television, he starred in the miniseries “North and South”, “North and South Book Two”, and the recent TNT series “The Beast”. He was nominated for 3 Golden Globe Awards over the course of his career. He married his wife Lisa in 1975. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. He was just 57yrs old when he passed away and will be greatly missed.

Richard Gere (Born 1949 in Philadelphia, PA) is a Golden Globe Award winning American Actor and Producer. In a Hollywood career that started on Television in 1973, Gere has gone on to star in a large number of highly successful theatrical films including “Looking for Mr. Goodbar”, “American Gigolo”, “Yanks”, “An Officer and a Gentleman”, “The Cotton Club”, “No Mercy”, “Breathless”, “Pretty Woman”, “Internal Affairs”, “First Knight”, “Primal Fear”, “Red Corner”, “Runaway Bride”, “Dr. T and the Women”, “Chicago”, “Unfaithful”, “The Hoax”, “Nights in Rodanthe”, and countless others. Elizabeth McGovern (Born 1961 in Evanston, Illinios) is a Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominated Film, Television, and Stage Actress. In a career that started in 1979 at the age of 18, she has appeared in films such as “Ordinary People”, “Ragtime”, “Lovesick”, “Once upon a time in America”, “Racing with the Moon”, “Bedroom Window”, “Johnny Handsome”, “The Handmaids Tale”, “The Wings of the Dove”, and the John Hughes comedy “She’s having a Baby”, among many others. She earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1981 for her role in “Ragtime”. The role also earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination that same year. On Television, she has most recently appeared on “Law and Order:SVU” and has appeared in numerous made for Television movies here and in England, where she now lives. She has also continues to enjoy a successful career on the stage, having appeared in dozens of productions in both New York and London. She recently branched out into the area of Singing/Songwriting and since 2008 has been the lead singer of the English band “Sadie and the Hotheads”.

Her career started on Television in 1990 and she has appeared on shows such as “Beverly Hills 90210″, “Evening Shade”, “Growing Pains”, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, and others. Her first prominent film role was in the 1994 film “The Next Karate Kid”. Since that film, she has gone on to a very successful film career which includes roles in “Boys don’t cry”, “Affair of the Necklace”, “Insomnia”, “The Black Dahlia”, “The Gift”, “The Core”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Freedom Writers”, “The Reaping”, “PS, I Love You”, and many others. She is also starring in the soon to be released Amelia Earhart biopic “Amelia”. She earned an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2000 for her role in “Boys don’t cry” and another Best Actress Oscar in 2005 for her role in “Million Dollar Baby”. William Atherton (Born 1947 in Orange, Ct) is a veteran American Character actor. In a Hollywood career which began in 1972, he has gone on to a very successful career of playing characters that you love to hate, usually villains or self-absorbed yuppies. His breakout role was in 1974’s “The Sugarland Express” in which he co-starred with Goldie Hawn. This film was also the first theatrical film to be directed by Steven Spielberg. His subsequent films have included such movies as “The Hindenburg”, “Looking for Mr. Goodbar”, “Ghostbusters”, “Real Genius”, “Die Hard”, “No Mercy”, “Die Hard 2″, “The Pelican Brief”, “BioDome”, “Executive Power”, and many others. His extensive Television resume includes appearances on shows such as “Numb3rs”,”Monk”, “Life”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Law and Order”, “Nash Bridges”, and many others.

Annie Potts (Born 1952 in Franklin, Kentucky) is a Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominated American Television and Film actress best known for her role on the long-running sitcom “Designing Women”. Her Hollywood career started in 1977 and has included roles in films such as “Corvette Summer”, “Ghostbusters”, “Pretty in Pink”, “Ghostbusters 2″, “Texasville”, “Toy Story”, “Toy Story 2″, and many others. Her television credits include starring roles on “Designing Women”, “Any day now”, and “Love and War” and appearances on shows such as “Law and Order: SVU”, “Men in Trees”, “Joan of Arcadia”, “Magnum PI”, “Remington Steele”, and many others. Was originally cast as the murderous woman in “Fatal Attraction” but dropped out to take the role on “Designing Women”. The film role then went to Glenn Close.

His Holiness The Dalai Lama, born Lhamo Thondup in 1935, is the spiritual leader of Tibet and the head of the Government in Exile of that Chinese occupied country. As Tibetans believe he is the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama, His Holiness is the 14th Dalai Lama in history. His a renowned speaker on the Tibetan Buddhist religion and is the spiritual leader of it’s many sects. A noted public speaker, he is the first Dalai Lama to travel to the West and is a noted campaigner for civil, spiritual, and humanitarian causes around the globe. He was presented a US Congressional Gold Medal in 2006 for his many humanitarian contributions. In 1989, he was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. He was enthroned as Dalia Lama in 1950 at the age of 15. He currently lives in exile in Dharamshala, India.
